Haslemere Educational Museum is an award winning independent museum founded in 1888. The museum holds diverse collections relating to Geology, Natural History and Human History, as well as being a resource of local history. It is also recognised for its educational work with schools and its lifelong learning for all ages. The Museum offers a lively programme of events and exhibitions throughout the year, including special seasonal activities. The Museum’s facilities comprise three permanent galleries, education room, two temporary exhibition rooms, library, archive, lecture hall and garden. The Museum holds approximately 400,000 objects in trust for the public, which are of local, national and international significance. Our regular activities include an educational programme, outreach work, temporary exhibitions, early years, junior club, family events, teenage group, tea and talk, freshwater studies, visitor information centre, talks, tours, walks and lectures.

Pre-Historic (50 000BC-43AD), Roman (43-410), Saxon (410-1066), Medieval (1066-1485), Tudor and Stuarts (1485-1714), Georgian (1714-1837), Victorian (1837-1901), Edwardian (1901-1914), World Wars (1914-1945), Post-War (1945+)

Opening Times

Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.

Winter closing time 4.30pm (mid October-mid February).

The Museum is closed between Christmas and New Year.
