Godalming Museum
Godalming Museum tells the story of the town and surrounding area within a fascinating 15th century building. The peaceful courtyard garden and Arts and Crafts Gallery illustrate the work of artist, gardener and craftswoman Gertrude Jekyll and architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. The Exhibition Gallery displays work by contemporary local artists.
Discover fossils, prehistoric and Roman archaeology and the Saxon origins of Godalming, in the Living Landscape Gallery. Explore the stories of over 400 local characters in the People’s Gallery. The museum’s hidden treasures are all on display in a new Knitting Workshop, Victorian Kitchen and Open Store. Digital displays give access to thousands of photographs as well as to prints and drawings, maps, memories and film.
The Local Studies Library is the place to explore the museum’s extensive collection of publications, ephemera and original documents. Whether you are working on a school project, your local family history or a book about the infamous rabbit woman of Godalming, we can help.
We are wheelchair accessible downstairs for the café, shop, garden, temporary gallery and arts and crafts gallery, and toilet.
