About

Wheels of Time in Surrey is run by Surrey Museums Partnership (SMP), which is funded jointly by Surrey’s District & Borough Councils, and Surrey County Council.

Surrey Museums Partnership have committed to deliver the Wheels of Time scheme, licenced through the national Wheels of Time Community Interest Company (CIC), to encourage children between the ages of 5 and 11 to visit museums and heritage venues in Surrey.

Children participating in Wheels of Time have fun exploring Surrey’s museums & heritage venues following Roamin’ Rex’s map. They collect a badge individual to each site. They can claim Roamin’ Rex’s Award Badge badges for visiting all participating sites.

There is no charge to children participating in Wheels of Time, but the normal entry fees at the sites are payable. Some sites are free entry but ask that visitors make a donation. See site information by selecting the site from the menu above.

Adults accompanying children given a Wheels of Time Badge will need to register on our website to record your visit, through setting up an account on the Collectors Portal. This helps us to gauge the success of the scheme and decide how to develop it for future years. Please refer to our Privacy page for information regarding data collection and use.

The Wheels of Time scheme originated in Kent in 2015 to promote education in history and heritage among young children. In 2024, a new national Wheels of Time Community Interest Company (CIC) was established to enable the Scheme to be rolled out to other areas for more young people to enjoy.

You can find out what other museums and heritage venues outside of Surrey are part of the Wheels of Time scheme by visiting the main www.WheelsOfTime.UK website.
