Ash Museum
A small friendly local history museum in a delightful former chapel which is a grade II listed building, located in the Cemetery Chapel in Ash Cemetery, Ash Church Road.
Discover the history of the area from prehistory to the modern day, in peacetime and at war.
Find out about life in the community through historic objects, pictures, stories, oral history and film.
Spotter sheets are available to help children have fun and enjoy their visit.
This hand pulled funeral bier, which continued in use until c.1977, forms a central exhibit in the museum.
Other interesting objects include three shields which formerly hung in the British Legion Hut next to the Ash War Memorial, saved when the hut was demolished, a souvenir programme for the presentation of the Victoria Hall clock and turret by Dr Henry Morris Chester in memory of his mother and the trowel used to lay the foundation stone of the Victoria Hall.
